Green Genie is a passion project we have been working on for what seems like forever. Thank you for your patience and trust, this product is worth paying attention to.

After a full year of torture testing in every imaginable environment we are confident that Green Genie will exceed expectations EVEN IF you have been a faithful user of NFS Ultimate or NFS Blue Devil...it is that good.

Green Genie was created to prove that Unicorns exist! This is a impossible product that worked so well we decided to go all in and produce this as a future forward product which is high performance and highly biodegradable.

Why is Biodegradable important? Folks, let's face it the line has been drawn. Our lifestyles do not have to have a negative impact on our environment. We can make conscious decisions to do better. Green Genie is non-toxic, odorless, colorless derived purely from plant based sources. There is nothing like Green Genie within the bicycle industry.

Is Green Genie a liquid Wax and what else is in the bottle? Green Genie is infact a liquid plant based wax and there is NOTHING else in the bottle. Similar to our other chainlubes we believe you should get a bottle of chainlube not a bunch of carrier oils, solvent or petroleum wax.

How many miles will I get from one bottle of Green Genie? After nearly two years of testing we estimate Nine to Ten Thousand miles of use in all conditions.

Will Green Genie wash out during rain or very wet bicycle rides OR muddy rides? Noooope, this stuff is durable and will not wash away.

Is a Biodegradable bicycle chainlube as good a product as petroleum based chainlubes (including petroleum based waxes). Emphatically YES!!! Infact, a biodegradable chainlube can be better.

Last, Green Genie is CRAZY quiet. It might be even quieter than NFS Ultimate or Blue Devil.

Remembering Dario Pegoretti

Several years ago I was visiting the Gita Corporate offices. Giorgio Andretta had graciously offered me a tour. When we arrived in a room filled with TDF jerseys there was only one thing which caught my eye. There stood a row of dreamy Pegoretti frames, a boy can dream.

Prior to leaving Giorgio suggested I supply him with the bicycle chainlube which I had been selling online to which I replied "you sell amazing bicycles, what are you going to do with a box of chainlube? We both laughed but agreed that my products had a place in the world of his fantastic bicycles.

At NAHBS I was standing behind my table catching everyone's eye "do you need lube"? As much fun as it was to foist lame come on's to strangers it seemed more fun to wander around the show and talk to the other vendors.

Passing Dario's huge display I heard a distinct Italian voice "Hey Josh" Dario motioned for me to sit on the couch with him. Cool, a living god knows my name. (Dario) "You do something for me ok?" (Me) "Sure, how about some chainlube"?. The deal was done, a handshake and off I went.

What Dario has ment to the bicycle world can not be described easily. The man has put more world beating bicycles under sensational athletes arses than there are stars in the sky. His no BS designs are considered holy sacrament within the framebuilding community. We could talk about his love of Aluminum or how enduring and beloved are his steel bikes ridden by the Pros during training. Why bother with all that? Dario was a genius, artist, humanitarian and he did it with style and beauty like only a true master can.

Dario's passing moved me deeply, a picture of him hangs above my workspace and I've decided to re-issue Italian Language NixFrixShun chain lube labels that have artwork derived from a mashup of a LOVE #3 and a random Mark Rothko painting. These labels are to remind us of the man and to never forget we ride well and better because of Dario.

NixFrixShun: Less is More

NixFrixShun is back again at the Philly Bike Expo and they've chosen this venue to debut their newest products. NixFrixShun, NFS for short, is already well known for their flagship product, NFS Ultimate Chain Lube. Probably the only chain lubricant on the market that tells you to use less of their product for maximum performance.

“You don't need a lot of NFS compared to our competitors who tell you to use a full drop on every chainlink when relubricating a chain. We recommend 15 drops applied randomly to a clean chain. Rotation of your cranks works NFS into all of the links. Finish by wiping the side plates with a cotton cloth and go for a ride,” says Josh Simonds, owner and inventor for NixFrixShun.

In addition to their chain lube, NixFrixShun also sells an ultra-high-tech grease that is great for bearings, races and threads, but is also free-hub safe, so it won't interfere with the action of the pawl. Ah, and Josh points out, “It's a red grease, and we all know red means it's faster.” Perhaps that's the rationale behind the name, NFS Race Grease.

There's even handlebar tape in the NixFrixShun booth, which, at first glance is not a logical item to be paired with bicycle lubricants. Simonds explains, “NFS was borne from necessity. I needed lubricants that wouldn't break down in wet conditions. For me the holy grail was a chain lube that could survive for at least 24 hours of riding in a constant rain. I created that with our Ultimate Chain Lube and have carried that idea throughout the product line. Our bartape has a lot of wonderful properties: it's wide, it wraps easy, the rolls are long for wide handlebars, and it's very grippy. Our NFS Speed Shop branded tape actually gets grippier when it's wet.”

NFS's newest product, NFS Ne+Ultra is something Josh has been working on for three years because he felt the market needed an odorless, colorless, biodegradable, non-toxic alternative to petroleum-based lubricants. “Ne + Ultra is something I just had to do. I specifically formulated it to be an Earth-friendly product, but I didn't want to compromise. I made sure it shares many of the same amazing chainlube properties as NFS Ultimate Chainlube.” Josh bottled the first consumer batch of Ne+Ultra just in time for the Philly Bike Expo, but he's been testing the product for more that two years using a network of ultra-distance cyclists and mountainbikers who have provided feedback which help refine the final product.

So what's next for NixFrixShun? Josh Simonds will only reveal that he's always working on something.

Our new chainlube is clear, odorless, biodegradable, non-toxic and shares many of the same amazing chainlube properties as NFS Ultimate Chainlube.

We recommend NFS Ne+Ultra in all situations where you want the best bicycle chainlube available with added benefits.

Nitty Gritty Details: Apply NFS Ne+Ultra sparingly. We recommend 15 drops applied randomly to a clean chain than distribution by rotation of your cranks until thoroughly worked into all the links. Finish by wiping the side plates with a cotton cloth and GO RIDE!

NFS Ne+Ultra will play well with other lubricants however we recommend you start with a very clean chain. Use simple green, hot water and a brush than let the chain dry before applying. If you wish to have the full benefit of a odorless, colorless chainlube we recommend you begin with a chain that has all traces of petroleum products removed before applying NFS Ne+PlusUltra.
